Available in a range of popular standard sizes and colours, our cut-to-size double layered mat boards are professionally bevel-cut to precision using our state-of-the-art Swiss-made precision computerised mat cutter.

Featuring a crisp white bevel cut window opening, these acid-free, cut-to-size double mat boards consist of two layers of 4-ply, 1.4mm thick board.

What is a Double Mat Board?

A double mat board consists of two separate mat boards layers, both cut with window openings that are aligned to intentionally reveal the inside edge of the bottom layer of matboard. This inside edge of the bottom matboard layer is usually around /-0.5cm (5mm).

This double layered matboard can create an elegant, tiered effect when using the same colour of matboard. For example, using a "white on white" matboard combination.

Alternatively, the two matboard layers can be two different colours, for example, white on top and black underneath. The exposed 0.5cm reveal of the bottom matboard layer around with window can create a visual accent, which can be used as a decorative tool to highlight or enhance a specific aspect or feature of the image.

How to Order Cut-to-Size Double Mat Boards

• Step 1- Choose your double matboard colour.
• Step 2 - Choose your outside dimensions based on standard fixed sizes. (Note - these cannot be offered in custom sizes).
• Step 3 - Enter your required image/photo dimensions into the fields provided.

Ordering notes:

• The internal window opening of your cut-to-size double matboard will be centered in the overall matboard, unless specified otherwise in your order notes.
• The opening window will be cut to the same orientation of the outside dimensions (ie: portrait or landscape) unless specified otherwise in your order notes.
• The step distance between the top and bottom layer of matboard will be approximately 5mm.
• The window dimensions will be cut slightly smaller than your provided image dimensions, so there can be a 3-5mm overlap of matboard all around the photo, picture or artwork.
• The external dimensions of our matboards are cut to exact inches to match common frame sizes.
• We are unable to offer custom cut sizes for outside dimensions.
• We are unable to offer multi-window, collage openings. One window only.
• The cms (centimeters) shown are rounded to the nearest approximate equivalent for quick, helpful reference only.
• Our cut-to-size double matboards are made to order, so please allow around a week for production time.
• Because PC and device screens vary so differently, colours displayed may differ slightly from the actual matboard colour.
• Any further information can be added to your order notes, if required.

Our double mat boards are professionally bevel-cut to precision with our state-of-the-art Swiss-made precision computerised mat cutter. Each layer of matboard is approximately 1.4mm thick (4 ply), with a window opening cut at 45-degree bevel to reveal a crisp white core.

Produced locally in our Sydney workshop, all of our double layered mat boards come professionally packaged in clear, protective resealable cello bags.
